Award-winning columnist Saralee Perel brings home a few more!

Winners were announced this month for the New England Better Newspaper Competition, held annually by the prestigious New England Newspaper & Press Association. The Cape Cod region was honored with several big wins, including the Cape Cod Times winning for General Excellence! But the news hits even closer to home for those of us on the CWO staff...

CapeWomenOnline contributor Saralee Perel won two awards to add to her growing collection, in both the "Humor" and "Serious" categories of Column Writing! Way to go, Saralee! We are so proud to call you one of our own!

For a complete list of winners, visit The New England Newspaper and Press Association's website.

This isn't her first award, either! In the past, Saralee's columns also won in the National Society of Newspaper Columnists competitions in 2005, 2008, and 2012, the North American Mature Publishers Association contests in in 2007 and 2012 and the New England Associated Press competition in 2008, 2011, 2012.

Saralee was recently interviewed on the Cape Cod Writers Center TV show, "Books & the World," about her newest book, Cracked Nuts & Sentimental Journeys.

Although she was a nervous wreck, she somehow pulled it off. If you'd like to see her interview, (where her press release boasts that she only went blank 17 times), it's on YouTube here:

Saralee can be reached at sperel@saraleeperel.com or via her website: www.saraleeperel.com.

About One Billion Rising
One in three women on the planet is raped or beaten in her lifetime. That is ONE BILLION WOMEN violated. One billion daughters, mothers, grandmothers, sisters, lovers and friends. On 14th February 2013, V-Day's 15th Anniversary, we are inviting ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence. ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men to dance across every country. V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, our numbers and our solidarity across borders.
